The quatrefoil motif is one that appears on several pieces at The Kellogg Collection. Perhaps you think it is a lovely symbol, and perhaps you wondered if there was any symbolism or history behind it. It turns out there is quite a bit.
First of all, there isn’t a right way to do a quatrefoil. This symbol may appear with more overlap – which looks like a classic four leaf clover – or with less overlap. It may also appear “barbed” with inverted points. These are all considered to be quatrefoils.
The roots of this symbol extend to Christianity, though some say it may have Islamic roots. Today, its religious ties have lost importance as people of all denominations enjoy this pretty symbol in their homes, jewelry, and clothing today.
We stock a lot of pieces at our shops with this beautiful and classic shape. It looks great in spaces that are traditional, as well as in spaces that are modern. Be sure to stop into one of our four shops to see these and other quatrefoil lamps, tables, mirrors and more you can bring into your home décor.
And of course, should you buy anything from The Kellogg Collection that can fit in a bag, you’ll be taking it home in our bag – which is covered in pretty green quatrefoils!
